The match may be shot FRIDAY (primarily staff and vendors) or on both SATURDAY and SUNDAY. Prize table and all awards will be presented after the cook-out (within 30 minutes after the last shot fired). Current plans are for shooting to stop at 2:00 PM Sunday, and awards to start at 2:30 PM.
Changes from 2007 to 2008
Stages will still be hit factored, but maximum value of each stage will vary based upon the number of weapons required to complete the stage. Single gun stages will be worth 100 points, two gun stages are worth 125 points and three gun stages are worth 150 points.
2 hits will now be required on all paper targets (with a specific exemption for Heavy Metal shooters). To reward accuracy, 0.5 seconds will be added to the competitor’s raw time on the stage for each C zone hit and 1.5 seconds will be added for each D zone hit.
Penalties are doubled for any miss on a target more than 100 yards from the shooting position.

Every application must have a Registration Code. The procedure for obtaining a code is spelled out in detail at http://lchico.5u.com/AMU/sign_in.html. Maps & Directions plus REQUIRED FORMS
Directions to the range are available at http://LChico.5u.com/AMU.html
There are forms that must be completed in order to bring firearms and ammunition onto Fort Benning. You will be entering a very busy military installation, during a time of war, while transporting weapons and ammo. They take security very seriously here. You will need a government issued picture ID (State or Federal). You will need to have the following forms completed: Weapons Disclosure And Responsibility Statement (http://LChico.5u.com/AMU/FB3GForm.pdf).
This is a 2 page form. You will need 2 copies of this form. When you print the Adobe file, it will give you the two copies (4 pages) that you need. Fill out the same information on BOTH forms. One copy is for the gate, and the second copy should be kept with you while on the military base.
These forms require Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing or printing. If the forms do not display or print properly, you may need to upgrade your copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Match Rules
The Match rules are posted on-line (http://LChico.5u.com/AMU/3GRules.pdf). These rules are similar to those of many major 3 gun matches. The match will recognize 5 Classes: Open, Tactical Optics, Tactical Irons, Heavy Metal and Trooper. It is the shooters responsibility to READ the rules to be sure they have selected the correct class and that their equipment conforms to the requirements of that class. As noted in the rules, scoring will be “time plus” with points awarded per stage based on placement in class. Stage value will be 100, 125 or 150 points.
Scores Posted
Interim results will be posted at the range, at the host Hotel both Friday and Saturday night, and online at the match website every night. Final match results will be posted on the Range and on the Match web site.
Prize Table
Prize table will be in order of finish by Class. The value of each prize table (5 separate tables) will reflect the percentage of that division in the match. For example, if the match is 50% Tactical Optics, 25% Open, 10% Heavy Metal, 10% Tactical Irons and 5% Trooper Class, then that same percentage of the total prize table will be on the respective Class tables. The value of donated prizes will be based on invoices or manufacturers suggested retail price (as provided by the sponsor).
You DO NOT have to be present to get a prize from the table. If you need to leave before your turn at the prize table, a form will be available in stats so that you can designate who will select and pick up your prize. If no one produces this form when your name is called for the prize table, the match staff will select a prize to be mailed to you.
Minimum Levels per Cash Award
Certificates for “cash pay-outs” will be on the prize table with other prizes. Tactical Optics shooters can get up to $ 2000.00 and shooters in other classes can get up to $ 500.00 as their selection from the prize table. Shooters can choose either cash or merchandise. Actual prize payouts based on number of shooters/division -- $ 500 awards only if at least 10 register and $ 1000 awards only if at least 35 register. If fewer shooters register in a division, the cash will be pro-rated. Category winners (Senior, Junior, Lady, Military Active Duty, Military Retired and Law Enforcement) are for recognition only (plaques/trophies) and do not earn an early trip to the prize table.
Host Hotel
Holiday Inn Express - Columbus Northlake
7336 Bear Lane
Columbus GA 31909
706-507-7200
Located near exit 10 off I-185 South or exit 4 off US 80 West in Columbus GA. See match website for map and more details about the hotel: http://LChico.5u.com/AMU/hotel.html
We would like to encourage everyone to stay at the Host Hotel. They have offered competitors at the 2008 Fort Benning 3 Gun Challenge a special rate of $ 109.00 per night. This is a significant savings from the standard rates at this hotel. They are not the closest hotel to the range, but they are in an area of town that is close to restaurants and stores, as well as being easy to locate for out-of-town shooters.
We have 50 rooms available all for $ 109.00 per night until November 2008. You may call toll free using 800-315-2621 or directly to the hotel @ (706) 507-7200. Please remember to ask for rate code “Ft Benning 3-Gun Challenge.” Check in time is 3:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. Rate is guaranteed for Thursday through Saturday during the match. If you plan to arrive earlier or stay later, the rate may be different for the additional days. This is a good hotel in a good area, near restaurants and retail stores. We do not recommend staying near post as it is a good place to lose a gun (or three). The hotel has high-speed Internet access, in-room coffee makers, microwave ovens and mini refrigerators.
Please note that included in our contract with the hotel, is the condition that they accept shipped ammo from shooters who reserve under the block of rooms "3 Gun Invitational."
Side Matches
Side Matches are not included in the entry fee and are not a part of the match. These must be paid for in cash at the match.
Vendor Areas
Vendors areas will be available to view and order merchandise from the generous businesses that helped sponsor this match. Due to regulations on the military reservation, no direct sales will be conducted.
Test Firing and Zeroing
A “Test fire” area will be available as well as the AMU gunsmiths to make emergency repairs. The use of the “Test fire” area will be with Gunsmith approval only. A zero range will be available at a different location, a few miles from the Brinson Range on Ft Benning. This zero range area will be available for use by registered shooters the day before they are scheduled to shoot, from noon until 5:00 pm. BEFORE you can use the zero range, you must turn in your Waiver of Liability form in stats and obtain a card that will be your access pass for the zero range.
Match Shirts
You can pre-order match shirts. Shirts will feature screened graphics on the front and back, with the back in full color. They may be ordered in short or long sleeve. There MAY be a limited number available at the match, but don’t count on it. The last two years, the shirts sold out quickly. Price is $ 18.00 for short sleeve and $ 23.00 for the long sleeve (add $2 for sizes 2XL or 3XL). Shirts fees can be paid with the same check as entry fees. If you want to order shirts, use this form and mail postmarked before November 12.
Meals at the Range
Lunch and breakfast will be available at the range for a nominal charge. Daily lunch on range will be hamburgers, grilled chicken, pulled pork sandwiches, chips, sodas, water and snacks. Price will be determined by vendor but will be very reasonable. Water will be available on the range for free in bulk containers.
Cook-out - BBQ
After the shooting is done, shooters & staff can enjoy a cook-out that will feature BBQ ribs and chicken, side dishes (baked beans, potato salad) and beer. There will be LOTS of BEER. The food will be just as good as last year, but there will be more of it. This is included in your entry fee.
Posting Stages, Squad Lists and Schedules
We will post the stages on the match website during the first week of November. The stage schedule will post at the same time. Squad Lists will post a week or two before the match. Match statistician Linda Chico will be happy to honor squad requests. If you did not make requests with your application, you can email them.
Parking
Parking is available on the range in designated areas only. There is ample parking and the areas are well marked.
